Patterson City Jail Release Routes
Patterson City Jail is the separate municipal jail verified in the Louisiana DPS&C directory for St. Mary Parish. It holds municipal detainees for Patterson. Someone leaving may be released directly under municipal or court authority, or transferred to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Those paths do not create the same public record, so the first call should go to Patterson at 985-395-6161.
A direct release ends the Patterson custody episode. The city record should supply the actual date, time, and public release or movement information. A transfer to the parish center continues custody and may create a new parish booking. Only that later parish episode should be expected in the St. Mary Sheriff’s roster or rolling released feed. Do not call the original municipal departure a community release unless Patterson confirms that result.
| Departure path | Next source | Accurate description |
|---|---|---|
| Direct municipal release | Patterson custody record and court order | Released from Patterson custody |
| Transfer to parish center | St. Mary Sheriff roster and movement record | Transferred into parish custody |
| Transfer to state custody | Louisiana DPS&C locator and records | Transferred to state custody |
| Federal handoff | USMS, BOP, or federal court record | Transferred to the verified federal custodian |
Confirm a Patterson Jail Release
No official Patterson online release list was identified. That absence is not evidence that the city keeps no release record. It means the telephone and records-request channels lead. Start with the municipal booking, then follow the person only if an official source identifies a receiving agency. A parish name search is useful after a verified transfer, but it cannot replace Patterson’s record of what happened at the city jail.
- Call Patterson City Jail at 985-395-6161 with the person’s full name and known booking date.
- Ask whether the municipal episode ended in direct release or transfer and request the public date and time.
- If Patterson names the parish center, search the sheriff roster for a matching parish booking number.
- If another custodian is named, use that agency’s locator or contact rather than assuming community release.
- Request the municipal movement or release record when a verbal answer lacks the date, authority, or destination.
The St. Mary Sheriff’s general roster search offers Current and Released filters for parish bookings. A matching parish record can confirm that the person reached the Law Enforcement Center. It does not explain the whole Patterson episode. For a named-person search across every custody level, use the St. Mary Parish release-record path.
A Patterson departure followed by a parish booking is a transfer between facilities, not proof that the person entered the community.
Patterson Jail Release Records
A precise request should seek an existing record, not ask the custodian to investigate or create a report. Identify the detainee by full name, date of birth when appropriate, and municipal booking date or number if known. Request the admission date and time, actual release or transfer date and time, public movement code or reason, releasing authority, destination or receiving agency when public, and booking photograph. Ask for a plain-language key to any existing code.
Louisiana Public Records Law generally supports inspection and copying of public records, subject to exemptions and custodian procedures. Juvenile information, medical details, protected victim or witness material, security-sensitive information, sealed or expunged records, and active-investigation content may be limited. If part of the municipal file is withheld, ask for the exact legal basis and every reasonably separable public portion.
The St. Mary Sheriff’s published $5 report price and 7 to 10 day incident-report timing apply to the sheriff’s stated report service. They should not be assigned to Patterson City Jail. Ask Patterson for its actual charge, acceptable request method, and production estimate. When a city-court order controls release, request the judgment or minute from the court that handled the case.
- Booking record
- The municipal record of admission, identity, booked allegations, and related custody fields.
- Release record
- The entry showing the end of a city-jail episode and its public reason or authority.
- Transfer
- Movement to a new custodian while detention continues.
- Disposition
- The court’s result in the criminal case, which is not supplied by roster status alone.
Patterson to Parish Custody
The St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center houses local detainees and people for municipal and tribal agencies. A Patterson detainee may therefore move into a parish bed. The parish booking number becomes the best anchor for that later episode. The arresting-agency field can help connect the booking to Patterson, but names and dates should still be reconciled before treating two records as the same person.
Once a parish booking is established, the sheriff’s dedicated Released filter shows recent local departures for 48 hours. It includes a photograph, name, booking number, age, actual release date and time, booking date and time, charges, and bond. Those fields show that the parish episode ended. They do not state the full legal reason, court disposition, or destination. Call the parish jail at 337-836-9509 when the later departure is unclear.
The official St. Mary released feed supplies the parish fields that may follow a verified Patterson transfer. It applies only after a parish booking exists. A person released directly by Patterson may never appear there.
Patterson Federal Custody Checks
A local jail can temporarily house or process someone connected to a federal matter. The research does not show that Patterson is a federal institution, and a missing BOP result does not prove release. Federal pretrial detainees may remain under U.S. Marshals Service authority in local contract beds and never appear as ordinary sentenced BOP prisoners. The federal court’s detention, bond, or dismissal order and the actual holding facility are the better sources.
If the person later enters BOP custody, search by register, DCDC, FBI, or INS number when available, or use a name with biographical filters. A BOP past release date with no institution can show that the person is no longer in BOP custody. It does not rule out supervised release or custody held by another sovereign. “IN TRANSIT” means movement, and a Community Corrections Management location can remain within the BOP framework.
The U.S. Marshals custody guidance supplies the federal routing context.
Use a federal source only when the municipal record, court docket, or receiving-agency information points to federal custody.
Patterson Release Custody Boundaries
A local release search can branch beyond city, parish, and federal criminal custody. An ICE detainer may cause a person to leave Patterson or the parish center directly for immigration custody. That is a transfer. The ICE Online Detainee Locator accepts an A-number with country of birth or exact biographical information. ICE says its system can include people currently detained or released from ICE custody within the prior 60 days, but exclusions, spelling, data lag, recent movement, or departure can still produce no result.
When immigration status remains unclear, the ICE Detention Reporting and Information Line is 888-351-4024 during its published weekday hours. A later ICE release ends that detention episode but does not itself resolve an immigration case. Use exact agency language and avoid treating a missing locator match as proof of freedom.
State custody needs the same discipline. If Patterson or the parish center names Louisiana DPS&C as the receiving custodian, use the state number and locator. A state facility assignment means the person remains imprisoned. A community-supervision status means physical custody may have ended while parole or another obligation continues. The actual movement record is the bridge between Patterson’s episode and the next system.
Sex-offender registry information is different again. It records a continuing registration duty for a person covered by Louisiana law, not the date or reason for release. It should never be substituted for the city custody record, court disposition, or state discharge record.
Note: Follow only a receiving agency named by an official record; do not infer a federal or state transfer from a missing municipal result.
Patterson Release Record Contacts
Patterson’s verified telephone, street address, and fax provide the direct municipal route. The research does not publish separate records hours, release hours, or an online release archive for the city jail. Call before visiting or sending a request so the city can identify its current custodian procedure and office hours.

The parish number resolves the later parish episode. Patterson remains the source for the original municipal admission and departure.
Note: Call Patterson before travel because no fixed municipal release time, public waiting area, or property-pickup schedule was verified.
